Dr. Cedric R. Hayden received an award at the Oregon State Capital in Salem Oregon last week. The award was presented by COFA Council General Joe Enlet. Dr. Hayden has volunteered a month every year since 2013 to the 16 islands in the State of Chuuk Micronesia a population of over 50,000 people with no private dentists and only limited dental services at the Chuuk State Hospital. Dr. Hayden also supports a staff of usually four people who assist him in providing dental exams, digital x-rays, fillings, cleanings, and extractions. Dr. Hayden has served thousands of people over the years that are unable to afford dental care or the transportation costs to get to one of the other states of Micronesia or to Guam where there are private dentists.
Dr. Hayden’s non-profit Caring Hands Worldwide has now arranged for a dentist to serve the people of Chuuk for the next year. Dr. Hayden will now start providing free dental care to people in Mongolia in June 2019 and in Peru on the Amazon River in November 2019.
