With a population of roughly 50,000 people, Chuuk is best known for its historical place in history. During World War II, Chuuk (also known as Truk) was the harbor for hundreds of Japanese war ships, submarines and Zero fighter planes. In retaliation for Pearl Harbor, the Americans bombed most of the vessels in the lagoon and sunk them where they rest to this day. Chuuk is now known as one of the most renowned diving spots in the world. Dr. Hayden has significant experience working as a contractor with the Oregon Health Authority for over 15 years. His experience and background will help to develop a new face of Public Dental Health which will allow for meeting the needs of all Oregonians. Dr. Hayden has also volunteered and provided free dental care in the Oregon cities of Blue River, Oakridge, Springfield, and Sutherlin. Dr. Jeff Casebier, Angela Lanning, and Ruth Rogers Dr. Jeff Casebier, Angela Lanning, and Ruth Rogers provided free dental care to 14 people in Springfield today. All of the people seen had no dental insurance or ability to pay for their dental care. There were many fillings that will hopefully help these individuals to prolong the health of their teeth and avoid premature extractions that would led to increased dental cost and health problems. We will be having a dental hygiene clinic in Springfield May 13th to help arrest the tooth decay in several individuals. Volunteering makes a big difference in peoples lives. Thank you to all the dental professionals who make this possible.
Pediatric Services in Chuuk, Micronesia Caring Ha Pediatric Services in Chuuk, Micronesia Caring Hands Worldwide expands to include pediatric services in Chuuk, Micronesia. This last month we worked with Dr. James Lace to obtain his medical license for Micronesia and now he is providing badly needed services in the Chuuk State Hospital and seeing children in the medical office at the dental clinic. Dr. Mark Tranby and Dr. Adrian Catuna are working hard in the dental clinic with assistants from Heather Martin from Oregon. we are also glad to have our first volunteer from South Korea, Arnold Do.
